Pink Think: "My advice to any diplomat that wants good press is to have two or three kids and a dog." - Carl Rowan
I had my fifteen minutes of fame today.
My family and I were sitting on the third bench of a hundred-year old horse carriage pulled by two cute little haflingers in Salt Lake City's Days of '47 parade. (Btw, this is one of the largest parades in the nation - the largest on July 24th anyway, my husband said smart-aleck-like - commemorating the settling of Utah by pioneers.) If you did not blink, you'd have seen the Utah veterinarians' parade entry, #88.
I waved and smiled until my cheeks hurt, and the crowd went wild.
Ha, ha, right. On the bench in front of me, a girl held her little teacup terrier named Maya.
"Oh, cute little dog!"
"Honey, wave at that little dog."
The announcers: "Cute dog!"
Sigh. To be upstaged in my grand parade moment by a little dawgie.
I made my peace with Maya later. She really was a cute dog. (She looks like a scrappy dog purse in this photo, but she's cuter in person.) And wasn't that what our parade entry was all about?
